1. Have a compelling reason to wake up.
You might not need a reason to wake up in the morning, but if you would like an extra push to feel more energized and optimistic about life, then it’s worth exploring what motivates you.
Speaking for myself, when I am passionate about something and feel motivated to accomplish my goals – good things always happen!
Whether that is winning time back from frustrating projects that I have been neglecting to do or having an eagerness to get out of bed to go to the beach with my dog for the day, when I have a sense of drive and motivation, it always makes my mornings better.
Who knows maybe it’s a passion project that you have been putting off? Or maybe it’s to win back time with your kids?
Whatever drives you and motivates you, make sure it gives you enough energy in the morning, so you can get out of bed, kick start your day, and take charge of your life!
2. Find out how much sleep actually need.
How much sleep do you really need each night? Or do you know if you are sleeping too much?
Well, research has proven time and time again that sleep loss contributes to extreme symptoms of exhaustion during the day. Not to mention that sleeping too much can also have extremely negative side effects on your mental health.
So what is the best and most optimal amount of sleep you can get? Sleep experts say getting between 7 and 9 hours of good quality sleep is the most ideal if you want to feel great in the morning!
To determine the ideal sleep hours for your own particular needs, keep a sleep journal and track your most optimal days to figure out how many hours of sleep you really need.
Who knows, you might need less or more sleep, however, keeping track of your best periods of sleep will help you identify the best hours that are unique for you, thus helping you achieve that extra morning energy you crave.

3. Begin your day with gratitude.
Experts recommend that you get up and out of bed by thinking about all the things you are grateful for.
This should be one of the first thoughts that come to your mind when you open your eyes. Repeating positive thoughts throughout the day will make it even better.
You could feel grateful for something small and insignificant, like a roof over your head, or you could feel very grateful for something important, such as beating an illness.
You could be proud of something you did in your childhood or think about a great thing that happened to you last week.
It doesn’t matter what you choose, as long as your mornings are filled with gratitude.

4. Get your muscles moving within the first few hours.
Stretching can be a great way to relieve stress and aches that you may have from the night before.
It can also help improve blood flow and refresh the body. This is a great way for you to feel a bit happier each morning.
5. Rid of the snooze button.
Experts in sleep suggest that if you want to be in control of your mornings, and have joy again, hitting the snooze button multiple times is not a good idea.
It’s common for us all: to press the snooze button.
But you must let your alarm know who is boss by either counting backward from five to zero and then standing straight-up afterward or placing your alarm in another room so you have to stand up and walk to it when turning it off.
6. Eat healthy fats earlier in the day.
Healthy fats are a great way to give your body more longevity. This will help you feel happier and provide fuel for the day ahead.
These healthy fats are great for your brain and mood and will help you conquer the day:
- Avocados

7. Turn your positive energy inward.
Did you know that washing your face can wake you up quicker than drinking coffee? And you can trick your brain to think happier thoughts by smiling all the time!
We all know it can be difficult to get out of bed every morning.
However, if we go to the bathroom, rinse our faces with cold, invigorating water and tell ourselves three positive things about ourselves, it will make the day start off right.
Be mindful of your words and be kind to yourself. Smile as you go. This trick will make you happy and happy quickly.
8. Create extra energy.
Nothing can beat the satisfaction of a workout. It makes you feel more energetic and happier and the benefits can last for hours.
Whatever your preferred fitness regimen, do something today to get your body moving.

*Bonus! Create a master checklist to feel less stressed out.
One more thing! You have to be aware that the design and implementation of a master checklist (for the day ahead) are extremely important if you want to achieve your goals.
The good news, is it’s pretty basic and rather simple to create a master checklist.
All you need is to create a list of your most important tasks (hopefully the night prior) and leave it right beside your alarm so you can grab it first thing upon awakening.
Remember, humans thrive off of routines and if your master checklist is already outlined for you, you’ll be much better equipped to know how your day will pan out.
This will allow you to be a little more in control of your destiny. And it will, hopefully, make you smile a little more each morning, too.
That’s it. It’s possible to wake up feeling good in the mornings, but it is not something you can do by accident.
It’s not enough to just wish that you wake up happy and smiling. You have to make an effort to do so!
That’s why these morning tips can help make your mornings a lot more enjoyable.
