Are you wondering how to drive traffic to your website?
And also increase blog traffic, without having to put forth too much effort?
If so, then follow these tips to up your Pinterest game and gain more traffic to your blog.
Following this simple strategy has helped me increase my own website traffic in a matter of a few months.
I really do believe that it is an accumulation of these tips and experimenting, that has helped my traffic explode since launching my blog in Sept 2018!
So before we start, make sure that you’ve set up your Pinterest business account and that you also have your rich pins set up and enabled as well. They are both linked and will take you to the instructions page on exactly how to do both in minutes. It’s super easy!
Also, make sure that your Pinterest account has at the very least 10-15 boards that best represent your brand and blog.
After that, the next step you should be taking is to begin optimizing your account (which is what this post details below!).
The reason that you will want to optimize your account is that optimizing will help your profile show up in the Pinterest search engines.
And if that happens, your pins and your profile will be seen by as many pinners as possible — Hello Traffic!
This is going to help you start getting more and more followers and a higher click volume to your website, so follow along below. Enjoy 🙂

Why Do You Need Pinterest?
Did you also know that Google puts your site in a holding zone for the first six months?
That’s why it’s a good idea to start optimizing your Pinterest account as fast as you can get to it. Because let me tell you, Pinterest will be your number one traffic source until Google recognizes that you have an established blog.
Let’s go over how you can fast-track these Pinterest tips below!
1. Add keywords to your business name.
Keywords are literally the juice that Pinterest will be drinking up, and it’s so important that it’s number one on this list!
If you have a brand name or even if it’s your personal name, make sure that you are adding relevant keywords in your name at the end.
Two to three added keywords are all you need. In marketing? Add marketing strategist. In the food industry? try adding nutritional advice. Look up your competitors and see what keywords they are adding to their own names.
This will take your business name a lot further as those relevant keywords are getting searched in the search bars of Pinterest. It will help you get noticed when people are typing and searching for different boards to join or niches that are popular.
You never know when your profile might be suggested to others. So make it easier for Pinterest to find you by adding keywords!
2. Create boards related to your business/blog.
This is another opportunity to include the keywords that are relevant to your niche to use in the description of each board that is associated with your account.
It makes your profile very useful for Pinterest and others to know what you’re all about, and you can get more followers if your boards show up to more people. But the only way for your boards to show up is if you have keywords in your descriptions.
You want to specify what your boards are going to be about, so if you have a board all about social media pins, have around 10 to 15 social media keywords that better explain what the board is about.
Think of your boards as an article or as a blog post on your website, just like you do SEO for Google, the same here applies to Pinterest.
If you don’t have a blog yet, click here to start the step-by-step guide right now. You could have a blog up and running in less than 20 mins!
3. Create personal lifestyle boards.
Let Pinterest know you are using their platform for your own personal use too!
Creating personal boards makes you look more human and feel less spammy and it adds a bit of a personal touch to your profile. Plus personal lifestyle boards are easier to pin too and can give your Pinterest account that extra boost when you are pinning from Tailwind!
Not using Tailwind yet? You can start your FREE 30-day trial here and get $15 off your second month here!
4. Create a mainboard designated for all your blogs pins.
This is a board that is uniquely your own that houses all of your blog posts/pins. This allows people to easily navigate to your blog right away so that they can get quick access to your content.
It’s also a great way to create and save your first pin from your blog posts before you begin posting to your different category boards and group boards through Tailwind.
5. Join relevant group boards.
Make sure to join as many relevant group boards as you possibly can.
This will not only give you added exposure but will also allow some of your pins to go viral and be seen by the thousands of audience members that make up that group board.
In fact, I am currently accepting contributors to my group boards, so feel free to send me an email on my contact page, describing what boards you want to join! You can also check out my Pinterest account here, all the boards are featured in the top 5 of my profile board slider located on my Pinterest profile.
6. Fill up your boards with quality content.
Fill up your boards with good quality content from other pinners that are in your niche. Great Quality Content Should Have The Following:
- a great template
- lots of repins
- a captivating and clickable title
- a good quality post to boot, with all links intact (stay away from broken links!)
Try to get in the habit of resharing the blog articles that you read fully to the end. That blogger probably would probably love it if you shared it, especially since they were able to captivate you all the way through to the end.
7. Create your own group boards.
Since there are so many group boards out there, you could very well host your own group board.
You can do this by adding contributors to an already established board that you own and you could ask that the contributors follow you back to be able to contribute to the board.
This will grow your followers and help you be looked at as an established blogger yourself.
8. Use a scheduling tool (this gets me tons of traffic!)
I know that this has been echoed across the web quite a lot, but it really is an all-in-one tool that will help you explode your blog’s traffic really fast!
I went from practically 0 pageviews a month to 20,000 page views in a few short months, all from using Tailwind!
Tailwind is the top pin scheduler on the market and it’s the one that I use to market this blog. Tailwind allows you to pin on autopilot.
Tailwind also allows you to maximize your pinning to roughly 50 to 80 pins a day (or however much you want), all by scheduling your content with a mix of other people’s good quality content on autopilot.
9. Follow others in the same niche.
A lot of people say that Pinterest following counts don’t really matter, but for me, I like to follow like-minded people still in the hopes that they will give my profile a look over and follow me back.
Don’t turn a blind eye thinking that your following count isn’t a top priority because it’s still a good practice to follow like-minded accounts as this will let Pinterest know that you are genuinely interested in using their platform as a way to make connections and not just solely as a traffic source. This works!
I’ve had many people in my niche, follow me after I followed them, and then head on over to my blog and sign up for my email list.
10. Take as many free Pinterest courses as you can.
A lot of bloggers out there have free Pinterest courses. Sign up for as many as you can and be a sponge. This will help you create the best Pinterest account for your blog so you can eventually start making a profit from it.
