1. Make space for ‘evaluation moments’.

When it comes to having money problems and/or stress about finances it’s because people often buy things that they can’t afford.

When they do buy the things for their lifestyle needs, they most usually buy things without cash and paying for things this way incurs a lot of debt.

However, you can turn this around if you start evaluating what you can afford!

The sole reason to have ‘evaluation moments’ means if you can’t afford something with the necessary available funds you have, you really shouldn’t buy it.

So the next time you are about to pull out your wallet, have an evaluation moment with yourself and address your needs vs. your wants.

Usually, your main area of concern should be by looking at what you can afford vs what you are willing to go into debt for because there lies your money-saving problem.

So the next time you are persuaded by that shiny new thing you see, be honest with yourself to see if the sale or quick purchase was really worth spending your hard-earned money on.

2. Live below your means.

We all hear it, “live life below your means”, but do we follow it? Well, a lot of people don’t!

What does ‘below your means’ even mean? It’s rather simple as it implies that you spend less of your money than what you are actually making.

Of course, having evaluating moments can help you at the moment, however, most leading financial experts say the good rule of thumb to live below your means is to spend 15% less than the amount you earn.

Additionally, this is generally a good rule to follow, especially if you already live on a tight and/or fixed income.

3. Find ways to earn more money (so you can save more!).

In the land of making and saving money, there are so many innovative ways to earn more (so you can save more) than you’d actually think.

Moreover, you really aren’t limited to what you currently make, therefore if you would like to make more money right now, all you have to do is find a unique way of making that extra cash that works for you!

Never forget that you can learn new skills at any age, granted if you research, work hard and learn more on the matter.

Or if you can get out of your comfort zone you can surely find a way to build a better income.

In the meantime, here are a few passive income ideas:

  1. You can be paid for your personal opinion: If you have something to say about a product or service why not get paid for it? Use a survey site such as Survey Junkie. They help brands offer better goods and services by accruing what people have to say about them. Not only that but they will pay you to share your view and opinion for real money.
  2. You can start a blog: If you think you have what it takes to blog full time, then you should definitely take my step-by-step blog guide here. OR you can start your blog on your own here yourself. Before you start, just make sure you set up a WordPress website, that way you are self-hosted and you will be ready to conquer the worldwide web.  You can make a lot of money from blogging in the future, through your hard work and persistence each month, but only if you don’t quit!
  3. You can get paid to research online: Swagbucks is another fast way to get free cash from PayPal these days. All you need to do is replace your ordinary search engine with Swagbucks, instead of using search engines like Yahoo, Google, or Safari, and you’re off to the races with collecting rewards and you guessed it, money!

4. Organize Your Finances.

When it comes to having financial problems, there is no bigger problem than having your finances disorganized.

After all, organizational skills with your money are the key to a successful life and it should be just as important as brushing your teeth.

So if you haven’t gone through the basic tasks of getting your finances organized, you may think that it will be a tall feat, but in all actuality, it’s really not.

There are two simple things that you can do (starting today) to start saving more money so you can start getting financially organized, they are;

  1. Sett up a filing system for your personal finances: To maintain an organized financial system you want a clear and concise system that keeps track of all your financial documents. Doing so will make it easier to pay bills on time and achieve your financial goals. So start filing your receipts away so you can analyze them to know exactly what you are spending your hard-earned money on and go from there.
  2. Create a budget with the help of a budget calculator: Another great way to organize your finances is using a budget calculator. Budget calculators are a handy tool that most people don’t know about, as you can use a tool like this to help you get a complete picture of the potential income you can save. Moreover, you can also work out how much debt you can manage more comfortably, too.

5. Learn from the best.

Lastly, if you would like to stop living paycheck to paycheck or if you can’t afford your own personal financial advisor it’s officially time to brush up on your money skills and start learning financial advice from the pros.

Most millennials right now, swear by this book to learn to save their money problems by themselves called The Total Money Makeover.

It’s also Dave Ramsey’s bestselling book for saving money and getting into better shape with your money.

It’s very popular for a reason because it’s a clear practical seven-step plan that has helped millions of struggling people get out of debt and change their lives for the better.

If you are really struggling financially right now, The Total Money Makeover will get to the heart of your money problems (which is a must) especially if you have tried everything else and failed.
